After receiving the reporting materials reflecting Xuecheng's relevant problems, our bureau conducted a serious investigation and verification according to its management responsibilities.
First, the reporting materials reflect the problem of Xuecheng sending harassing information, which is found to be true and suspected of violating Buddhist precepts. The Buddhist Association of China has been instructed to deal with it seriously in accordance with Buddhist teachings and regulations and the Constitution of the Buddhist Association of China.
Second, an investigation was conducted on the illegal construction of Beijing Longquan Temple reflected in the reported materials. It has been found out that the reported building has not obtained a construction project planning permit according to law.
Third, regarding the whereabouts of a large amount of funds of Beijing Longquan Temple reflected in the reporting materials, after investigation, it was suspected of violating the relevant regulations of the state's financial management, and it has been handed over to the relevant local departments for investigation and punishment in accordance with laws and regulations.
Fourth, regarding the issue of sexual assault reported to the public security organs mentioned in the reporting materials, the Beijing public security organs accept and conduct preliminary investigations in accordance with the procedures for handling criminal cases by public security organs, and are currently investigating.
Earlier, on August 15, 2018, the third meeting of the Ninth Council of the Buddhist Association of China was held in Beijing.
The meeting accepted Xuecheng's resignation as the president, executive director, and director of the Buddhist Association of China, and agreed that the vice president of Yanjue would preside over the work of the Buddhist Association of China temporarily.
