Goh Chok Tong, Honorary State Counselor of Singapore, who is visiting Chongqing, met with Han Zheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Vice Premier of the State Council of China yesterday.

Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement yesterday saying that Han Zheng welcomed Minister Wu to visit, and described him as an old friend of China.Han Zheng also thanked Wu Zizheng for attending the first China International Smart Industry Expo (Smart Expo for short) as the representative of Singapore, the guest of honor.

During their meeting, Minister Goh and Han Zheng reiterated that the long-standing and close bilateral relationship between Singapore and China, which keeps pace with the times, meets the needs and interests of both countries.They also had extensive discussions on bilateral cooperation, including good progress on three intergovernmental cooperation projects.These three projects are the Sino-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park, the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city, and the Sino-Singapore (Chongqing) Strategic Interconnection Demonstration Project.

Senior Minister Wu also met with Chen Miner, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee.The two exchanged views on how to deepen the cooperation of the Sino-Singapore (Chongqing) project.With Chongqing as its operating center, the project focuses on financial services, aviation, transportation and logistics, and information and communication technology as key areas of cooperation.

Minister Wu will deliver a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the first Smart Expo held at the Chongqing International Expo Center today.The accompanying guests included Chen Youming, Senior Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Trade and Industry, as well as officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, and the Infocomm Media Development Authority.Senior Minister Wu will return home tomorrow.
