According to the official report, before his death by hanging himself, Peng Yaoxin had been transferred to the party group of the Meizhou CPPCC.

Peng Yaoxin is a native of Xingning, Meizhou City. He used to be the deputy secretary of the Xingning Municipal Party Committee of the Communist Party of China, the head of Meijiang District, and the secretary of the District Party Committee.In 2008, Peng Yao was appointed Secretary General of the Meizhou Municipal Party Committee and was promoted to the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee.At that time, Li Jia was the mayor and secretary of the Municipal Party Committee of Meizhou City.

Li Jia was sacked in 2016 and was accused of accepting bribes of 20 million yuan (RMB, about S$4 million). He was sentenced to 13 years in prison in January this year.At the end of 2016, Peng Yaoxin was transferred to the deputy secretary of the Meizhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and secretary of the Political and Legal Committee.
