According to The Paper, The Paper reporter learned from relatives and friends of General Liu Zhenhua that Liu Zhenhua, the founding major general of the People's Republic of China and former political commissar of the Beijing Military Region, died in Beijing on the morning of July 11, 2018 at the age of 97 due to medical treatment.

According to the general's personal biography, Liu Zhenhua was born in July 1921 in an ordinary peasant family in Dongdawu Village, Dawenkou Town, Tai'an County, Shandong Province. His original name was Liu Peiyi, and he later changed his name to Liu Zhenhua.

After Liu Zhenhua's death, there are only 16 surviving major generals of the founding of the People's Republic of China.Since the beginning of this year, five founding generals have fallen.

Among the above-mentioned 16 founding generals, the youngest is Wang Fuzhi, former deputy commander of the Urumqi Military Region, who was born in 1923 and is 95 years old this year.
