Liu Jianfu, former member of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and former deputy mayor who served as the bodyguard of Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai and other late CCP leaders during the revolutionary era, died at the Beijing Hospital on the 8th of this month at the age of 100.

It is reported that Liu Jianfu is from Lingqiu, Shanxi. After 1949, he successively worked in the public security departments of Beijing, Hubei Province, Guangzhou City, Anshan City and the Ministry of Public Security.

During the Cultural Revolution, he was sent to work in the May 7th Cadre School of the Ministry of Public Security. In 1977, he returned to Beijing to take up a leadership role and served as the deputy director of the Municipal Advisory Committee.In 1996, he left for recuperation.

The Beijing News WeChat public account Zhengshi News pointed out that Liu Jianfu joined the Eighth Route Army in 1937 and served as a cultural teacher in Yan'an.

He also served as the chief security guard during the revolutionary years, defending the safety of the central leadership, including Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Ren Bishi and other late CCP leaders.
