People familiar with the matter said that Boe Technology Group is expanding the plant to expand the factory buildings to rent dozens of hectares of land in northern Vietnam to negotiate with Yuefang.
At present, BOE's factories in southern Vietnam are relatively small, mainly producing TV screens, which are supplied to Samsung and LG electronics in South Korea.Samsung is the world's largest smartphone manufacturer. Half of Samsung's mobile phones are produced in Vietnam; LG also has large -scale business in Vietnam and plans to invest again.
In recent years, northern Vietnam has attracted a large amount of capital injection of electronic giants and has become the main production center of global smartphones, computers and cameras. Products include Apple and Samsung flagship products.
Apple foundry Hon Hai Precision (that is, Fuji Kang's parent company) and Lixun Precision also produce or plan to assemble a series of products such as Apple laptop and tablet computers.
One of the insiders revealed that BOE plans to rent up to 100 hectares of land, of which 20 % are used to build a factory that produces remote control systems, costing $ 150 million.
The rest of the land is used for the production screen, while BOE is said to spend $ 250 million to build a factory on 50 hectares of land, and the remaining 30 hectares of land are allocated to suppliers.These will be completed before 2025.
