British media reported that China has pulled scientific and technological giants Alibaba and Tencent to assist it in the design of semiconductor chip design.Beijing is preparing to respond to further sanctions on China's computing power.

The Financial Times reported on Wednesday (November 30) that the Chinese government has established an alliance of enterprises and research institutions, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences to create new chip intellectual property rights.

Beijing hopes to reduce its dependence on SoftBank's companies. The latter's technology is the basis for supporting most semiconductors in the world.

The Alliance uses an open source chip design architecture RISC-V created by the University of California Berkeley in 2010. In recent years, RISC-V has become a competitor of ARM.

The report also quoted employees familiar with the matter that Alibaba and byte beating have set up a team using the RISC-V architecture to develop high-performance chips of artificial intelligence and data centers.

As the United States restricts China's acquisition of cutting-edge chip components and machines through legal restrictions, in order to increase pressure on the Chinese technology industry, Beijing's interest in RISC-V has continued to increase.

The United States has been lobbying allies including the Netherlands and Japan to remove Chinese technology companies from its supply chain, as the United States has done by the Chinese technology giant Huawei in 2019.
