Liu Heqian, the former chief of staff of Taiwan, who was 97, died of illness in the early morning of Thursday (December 14).He has been a strategic consultant of the Taiwan government for a long time.

Comprehensive United Daily News, Central News Agency, and Zhongshi News reported that the Ministry of National Defense confirmed the news of Liu Heqian's death and said that he would fully assist Liu Heqian's family members to handle the funeral.

The Ministry of National Defense of Taiwan also said that because Liu Heqian had won the "Blue Sky and White Day" medal, he was qualified to burial in the Special Cemetery of the Wuzhishan Army Demonstration Cemetery.
