Tsai Ing -wen participated in the welcoming ceremony of the Guatemara National Military Ceremony that night, conducted closed -door talks with Jamart, and jointly witnessed that the two foreign ministers signed a government -signed basic cooperation agreement.
Tsai Ing -wen said that Guatemala was a solid friendship in Taiwan, and thanked Jamart to support Taiwan when he conducted large -scale military exercises around China last year in mainland China.
Jamart said that Guatemala and Taiwan's friendship are unbreakable. Guatemala supports Taiwan to participate and contribute to international organizations such as the United Nations and the World Health Organization.He also said that Taiwan is "the only true China".
Some Guatemala people believe that their country chooses Taiwan rather than the mainland and is losing economic opportunities.
Miguel Angel Sandoval, a Socialist and political analyst at Guatemala, said: "China is a market with more than 1 billion people, exporting and imported products from Chinese exports and imported products."
