The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Affairs announced on Monday (June 5) that Liu Jian was appointed as the deputy president of Xinhua News Agency.

Public information shows that Liu Jian, Han nationality, born in January 1972, a member of the Communist Party of China, a bachelor's degree, senior journalist title, graduated from Shandong University in July 1992.

From 1992 to 2003, Liu Jian served as a reporter from Xinhua News Agency Henan Branch.From 2003 to 2016, he served as a reporter, deputy editor -in -chief of the Chonghua News Agency, deputy editor -in -chief, executive deputy editor -in -chief, deputy president, party group member, and members of the party group.

From November 2016 to April 2021, Liu Jian served as the president of the Xinhua News Agency Jiangxi Branch and secretary of the party group.In April 2021, he was transferred to the headquarters of Xinhua News Agency, and successively served as deputy secretary of the party committee, secretary of the party committee, and president.Since July 2021, he has served as chairman and legal representative of the 4th board of directors of Xinhua News Agency.

Liu Jian has also served as the 10th Council of the Chinese Journalists Association since December 2021; since April 2022, he has served as the vice chairman of the China Internet Association.
